That Cottony Ball of Happy Fluff Has Taken on New Meaning   Print  E-mail
Wednesday, 07 July 2004

That's my wife on the right there.  I love her so much I do, and my kid.  They are just so cute.

I can't believe how things change; can you?  Last night was so wonderful, let me just tell you about it it was that wonderful...

I was sitting at the kitchen table eating some gravy from a boat, dabbing my chin with a bib every few moments, when my wife came in and said, "Hey y'all, I got some great news for you!"

As I slurped down that last carmelized onion I asked, "What is it, Honey?"

"Your friend John just called: he wants you in his ticket!"

"Really?  But..." I just then remembered that cottony ball of happy fluff that I had thrown out, I think, a month ago.  When I threw it out, I also threw out my hope and my world grew painfully dark, like Hershey's chocolate special dark it was so dark.  But when Honey told me that good news, that very same fluffy ball rolled out of the trashbin and floated into my lap.  I was ecstatic.  I petted it again, and caressed it against my cheek as I declared, "This is the greatest night of my life!"

That night, I slept with that happy, fluffy ball...and my wife, as cute as ever.  I couldn't imagine a more wonderful evening.
