Levi’s Releases New Severely Distressed Jeans   Print  E-mail
Saturday, 14 February 2004
Levi’s recently released a new line of jeans labelled “Severely Distressed”. Executives hope that they can keep with fashion trends, which have recently dictated more emotionally complex apparel.

After suffering a financial blow attributed mostly to not following the “bohemian” look, executives at Levi’s decided now was the time to catch up.  In past three years, fashion has been somewhat fastidious.  In 2002, baggy jeans we extremely popular, before their extroverted one-size-fits-all brethren cut them at the throat.  In 2003, the bohemian look became all the rage with teenagers eager to wear jeans featuring spray-painted stains of grass, dirt, and feces.

Levi’s plans to bring their new jeans to shelves along with a new ad-campaign, featuring beautiful people relishing in the sense of individuality their new jeans grant them.  One commercial reads “I like to think I’m on my own.  It now turns out I am, just like these jeans.”

Analysts believe this to be a good move for the company.  Other jean companies are taking note.  Abercrombie & Fitch plans to come out with new “frazzled” jeans, while Gap is coming out now with their own line of pre-distressed wear called “TormeNTed”.
