The detective was at the end of his rope. As he sat at his desk making notes and reviewing bits and pieces of evidence, his frustration finally go the best of him. With a violent stabbing motion he smashed the tip of his pencil into the notebook which had become an unfortunate scrapbook of hopelessly unrelated clues. After composing himself, his focus returned to the apparently unsolvable homicide case he’d been handed almost a year ago. In his right hand, he twirled the fancy mechanical pencil –the same one which, just seconds earlier, he had blunted when impaling the tablet. I’ll need another lead if I’m gonna get anything done here, he thought to himself.
