It was Easter and Charlie woke up refreshed. Looking out his arched bedroom window, he remarked how Easters always start with the same hazy morning. There was no delay in his understanding; he knew from his first moments of consciousness that a large basket of chocolate bunnies, eggs, and assorted animal by-products would await him downstairs. He couldn’t even wait to get dressed; he ran down the stairs in his pajamas.
But in his speedy descent, he could hear something terribly wrong about this morning. He heard groans, screams, and burbling fluids. His footsteps quickly softened, fearing the worst for his family.
Ah, but for Little Charlie, all his fears were in vain. Everyone in his family was safe, there was nothing to worry about. He had simply watched too many violent movies in his nine years of life. The sounds were just coming from the television.

All families wish they could be like the Yamsons | “Oh, hey, Charlie,” his mother called to him when she heard his soft footsteps in the family room. “We’re just watching The Passion.” On the television screen was Jesus being whipped and having nails driven through his left wrist, then his right, and finally through his ankles.
“Oh,” Charlie realized. His father must have borrowed a copy of the film from his friend who works at a film transfer studio.
So that wonderful Easter morning, the Yamson family intently watched Jesus’ violent death, and thanked God and Lord for Their sacrifice. As Charlie gleefully joined the family on the couch, he completely forgot about the chocolate that had before consumed his entire existence. He couldn’t imagine being any happier. |

Tsk. | hmmm... Written by Guest on 2004-10-24 10:58:20 Very controversial issue...dead guy on a cross or an overload on sugar? Maybe the politicians of the world should debate this instead of war. -LM |
