The explosion caught on tape

"Emeril kept telling us to ‘kick it up a notch’,” said the executive producer Ytrial Chlinqui. “What could we do? So we did the only thing we could do: we added pyrotechnics to the show’s onslaught of sensationalism.”

According to witnesses the night before, Emeril requested that producers “make a bang” with his trademarked exclamation “Bam!” in the next day’s taping. If all went according to plans, producers say, when Emeril added salt to his Shrimp-Tartar-Flambe™, a small explosion should have occured on stage to “drive the point.”

Unfortunately, the contractors were inconsistent with their units, with the pyrotechnicians using the metric system, and the chemists using English customary. The result was simple: pure, unadulterated tragedy.

Audiences at first didn't know how to respond. The majority of the audience roared in applause and cheering, thinking the stunt a success, while a smaller, more sober fraction fell ashen in horror.

Emeril, being closest to the explosion when it happened, was hardest hit. After the explosion, the audience was evacuated from the stage and paramedics were called in. After they declared Emeril stable, he exited the stage in a triumphant walk that evoked memories of action-flick heroes emerging from devastation before the credits. While Emeril bore many open wounds and was missing a chunk of his skull, he still managed to smile weakly for his audience. In general, however, his expression bore only despair.

The other six injured were forgotten, and are possibly dead.

Producers at Emeril Live assure reporters that this will not affect the show’s reputation for originality. While they plan to “tone down” their enthusiasm for new sensationalism, they hope that with the addition of new characters to the mix—like Sensitive-Gastro-Intestinal-Tract-Andy—the show will maintain a heightened level of novelty.

I guess that you have that little something inside you that tells you what to do and what not to do. Use common sense and be careful or you will end up in the ground with the other dead people. That was rather scary though just to see that happen. If a terrorist would have came in and shot Emeril, he would not have woken up, he would be dead as a doornail and he woulod not come back to life. I'm just glad emeril survived that explosion.]

He could have died in that explosion and ended up in the ground with the worms eatening at his flesh whole. I wouldn't do that for a million dollars.
