Dear God,

Hello, I’m a student at Miami University of Ohio.  Lately, my philosophy class has become deliciously enticing.  Studying the greats; it’s overwhelming.  I can feel my mind growing more mature with every paper I write!  But at the same time, I’m afraid that I’m going to die once I become addicted to this academic progress.  What should I do, God?

Sincerely,
Intellectually Constipated in Oxford

Dear Constipated,

There’s one thing to do.  Listen carefully.

You have to dissolve the air of mystery that surrounds these so-called greats.  They’re not really great.  I mean, they’re great, but not Great.  There are many Great things out there besides philosophy.  Ceramics, for instance.  The ability to create a beautiful vase, preferably with some story about Me engraved on the side… now that’s Great.

The only reason you think so highly of those individuals is because they pose for you what I call endless horizons.  There seems to be no end to the wisdom they can impart on you.  And I bet your teacher sweetens the deal by applying their wisdom to real life in surprisingly humble but empowering ways.  That’s good an all, but there are definite limits to those horizons.  Trust me, of all people I would know.  Don’t waste your time.

And don’t worry, you won’t die from such an addiction.  That doesn’t happen.

Thanks for the nod.  It’s been a pleasure working with you.

God

The importance of Self or Innovation

When oneself is confronted by the whereabouts of a decision, recieved in the midst of a lethargic mind, it is of utmost importance that one remembers the egg. The egg of creation is where one or two, can begin on the ecclestial journey of the soul of being and the divine.

I laughed outloud - good job, editors. By, why Miami University of Ohio? Are there even other universities outside of California? Where is Ohio? Is that near NYC?
